Joining the ranks of bands with names inspired by Monty Python (Toad The Wet Sprocket, Ethel The Frog, can you think of any others?) we have Spiny Normen, from Houston, Texas, circa 1979 or so. They wuz teenage longhairs inspired by heavy British prog, and drugs, and more drugs. Utilizing Vox Jaguar organ and Mellotron and hella fuzzy guitars, oh and echo-effected FLUTE, too, they recorded a killer DIY acid rock album brimming with experimental ideas and youthful enthusiasm, but somehow left it unreleased and forgotten in the vault for almost 40 years. Blame the drugs for that, perhaps. Fortunately, RidingEasy's powerful proto-metal detectors have at last brought this lost LP to light, and man is it good! Definitely one for fans of Van Der Graaf Generator, Black Sabbath, King Crimson, and all things vintage and heavy and acid-fried.
